The Ketchikan Gateway Borough is seeking funding from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Recreation Division Alaska Recreation Trails Program (RTP) for the North Rainbird Trail Improvements Project. This grant program requires the Borough to solicit and compile comments for a period of 30 days.

Brief Description: Work consists of repairs to 2/3 miles of the Rainbird Trail from the Third Avenue Bypass to the University of Alaska Southeast Campus, including downed tree removal, rock stepping stone stabilization, rock stepping stones placement to control drainage and minimize erosion, trail fill reshaping, selective culvert replacement, selective rock removal, bridge installation in two locations, and staircase installation.

Proposed Project Timeline:

Project Start Date: February 6, 2023

Project End Date: May 15, 2023

The Assembly will consider this action by public hearing at its regular meeting on October 17, 2022, held in the Assembly chambers of the White Cliff Building at 1900 First Ave. at 5:30 pm. Online comments may be furnished through October 28, 2022 by 5:00 pm in order to be included and addressed as part of the grant nomination.
